To be honest with you....

Why do we even use this phrase, "To be honest with you"?

It seems that when we are dealing with people, wither in business or personal relationships we should be striving to be as honest and communicating clearly as possible. The thing I want to do when people use that phase to introduce a thought or sentence is to go through my memory and delete everything they have said up until then. Because to that point they must not have been very honest or they wouldn't need to 'call it out' with that phrase.

So here is to honest and open communication at all times, not just when trying to 'sell' something or a point.
