There is a guy who 'patrols' the area by the bus stops downtown. He is a bigger gentleman who wears an 'Jesus' baseball cap. I could go on and on about bad breath, velcro shoes, etc. But I won't. The thing that bugs me is that he goes up and down the rows of people asking if he can ask them a questions. Those of us who have been riding for awhile look away or totally ignore the guy, but every once in awhile he catches some poor unsuspecting person. They allow him to ask his question. Which the typical, 'If you die today, where would you go?' This then leads into this 'save you now' routine that has - yesterday this happened - caused him to litterally chase people down the line of buses.
Several thoughts have come from watching this happen:
1. Why are some Christians - and I use this term lightly - worried about death so much that they are almost fixated on it? I think that people should be focused on helping others work through the life that you have right now, and focus on making sure that the 'end goal' is the right spot.
2. People like our bus stop savior ruin it for anyone else that has any sort of faith and wants to live it out on a daily basis. This is because you instantly become associated with wingnuts like this guy.
3. I am glad that God is bigger then many of his 'messengers' or spokespeople because there is a lot of misinformation or badly delivered information running around.
4. I am sure that this guy thinks he is doing God a service, but he really just needs to stop - he is ruining it for everyone. Those with faith and those who just want a quit wait for the bus to show up so that you can go home and crash for the weekend.
Anyhow, those are my random thoughts after watching another poor soul being chased down the bus line Friday......
