What great leaders do...

According to this amazing article, great leaders will create both conflict and consensus. There is a great balance that has to occur here, but it only makes sense that the way to find the best route or decision is to get other people's opinions. Harder to do is to create an environment that people feel comfortable giving their honest opinions even with and especially if they disagree with the current feeling.

The other side of the coin is building consensus. This is important if you want to get others to rally around the decision or direction. This is also hard to do in the 'real world'. You have to be able to sell the idea that is the best and get others to buy into it as well.

As I read this, it made me understand that I have a ton to work on before I can consider myself a leader of any sort......
