In reading through this story about a mom who left her child in the car while her and her daughters went a short ways away to put money in a Salvation Army kettle just shows how complicated and messy that life is and can be.
At first when I read this I thought, what a dumb mom, leaving her 2 year old child in the car. But then you read the whole story and it was sleeting out, the car was on and was locked and was never out of sight and the mom wasn't even out of the car that long.
So it is a mess. While this story happens to be a mess on multiple fronts, it just goes to show that you can't just jump to conclusions. What you see might not be the whole story. And even if you know the entire story and all sides, it still might not be real straight forward.
While it is easy to judge - that isn't the best option.
