Tis the season...

It is near impossible to watch any sort of TV or surf the web or even just read the newspaper without being assulted by a political ad of some sort. There was a cartoon that I saw recently that said 'they claim to be able to balance a budget, but yet spend millions of dollars in advertising'.

I am sure I am not alone in saying that the mud slinging and the name calling from both sides just really sounds like a couple of 2-year olds calling each other names and having a slap fight.

While I don't want to clutter up the air any more, this article in the New York Times this morning was interesting in pointing out that there is a new site that went live today that is pretty interesting. The Living Room Candidate shows political ads from 1952 to the current presidential campaign. It appears there has  been a lot of name calling over the years. The site also links to FactCheck.org which follows up on the claims from these ads. Seems to me that this stuff is kind of like making taffy you just keep streatching and streatching and hope that someone is going to buy it.

While everyone seems to indicate that they know people hate this stuff - the cat has been out of the bag for quite a few years. At this point I just am thankful for DVR/Tivo so that I don't have to watch these things other then a blip on the screen as I fastforward by them to get to the rest of my show.
