The truth about you is kind of like an M80. It is a small package and carries a big punch. I was lucky enough to have the privilege to review this book. In truth it is more then really just a book – it is a work book of sorts that attempts to set out guidance on how to really find out what your strengths and weaknesses really are.
With hundreds of tests and surveys that you can take to find out your ‘wiring’ what is it that makes this one different or special?
I really like Marcus’ idea that we have to focus on our strengths and continue to build on them He starts with some myths. The ideas that are revealed throughout this package are pretty powerful.
That your personality changes over time.
Work on your weaknesses.
Your strengths are not really what you are good at, and your weaknesses are not really what you are bad at.
For me the way that this is laid out makes it easy to consume and allows for you to digest and to refine what you are learning. As I said, this is more then a book. It starts with a DVD that is amazing in it’s look at and lays out the framework for the topic. The book reinforces that and gives you questions to ask and wrestle with. There is also a notebook that is included to take with you and document what those strengths and weakness are.
And I think that real success is not measured by the size of paycheck that comes home with you but in having a life that is rewarding – and this reward is in working in and on things that ‘fit’ you. And this makes life worthwhile.
To be truly effective, this is not something that you can bust through and move on to the next topic. This is something that in order to be effective must be mulled over, reviewed, revisited and continually applied.
So get busy. Watch the movie, read the book, fill out the notebook. And let’s focus on our strengths and make differences in our world.
