Book Review - The Noticer

This is a story about a mysterious man who changes the lives of everyone who he meets. The reason is that he ‘notices’ and then stops and talks to various people about what is going on in their lives. Some of these conversations are very difficult but this character ‘Jones’ never hesitates. He does it in a concerned way, never beating anyone over the head or making them feel dumb.

What I loved about this book is that while there are lives touched and changed by conversations and interactions with Jones, there is a TON of wisdom and really great thoughts packed into every single chapter.

Some of the ones that moved me where:
‘Experience is not the best teacher. Other people’s experience is
the best teacher.’
‘Remember, whatever you focus upon, increases’

The overriding idea in this book is that many of our crisis in life and difficulties would look different if we had a proper perspective. We get so tied up in the moment that we forget to look at a situation completely.

As I was reading this it made me think of several things – how many times have I seen people in my life who I just haven’t bothered to talk to about things because the conversation would be hard or awkward. This book gives me the motivation to really step up and make that next move.

There is another really cool aspect to this book which is The Noticer Project. It is to ‘notice’ or acknowledge the 5 people in your life who really pushed, encourages and motivated you to become who you are today. You can get more information at: http://www.thenoticerproject.com/

All things considered, this is a power-packed book full of idea, wisdom and is a great read!
