Being for and not against...

I have been thinking about the areas of my life that I have a ton of passion for and then other areas that seem to be like black holes that suck the very marrow out of my bones. Trying to figure out why that is and if there was anything that could be done about maybe getting rid of the 'holes' or at least avoiding them or something, because quite frankly, they are really draining and that stinks. Passion areas are exciting and while that can lead you to get tired it is a different kind of tired, a satisfied and rewarding tired.

As I was reading through some blog entries today I can across this one from Mark Waltz which was like a magnifying glass on my areas that drain me. He is referencing church and ministry, but I think this applies to general work and life as well.

What am I living FOR are the things that invigorate and excite me. Therefore I am striving to focus on the FORs in my life.

One of my biggest challenges is staying focused on the "yes" stuff that God's most wired me up for. Love to hear more about how you're maintaining that scope.

What it really has done for me (when I can remember to actually apply this) is to change my attitude and focus. It is amazing how easy it is to be negative and really get self-righteous about things or how you think the world should run. At least for me, that slops over to my whole life. Whereas if I can focus on the things I am 'FOR' it helps to get more of a 'glass half full' look. I am not wearing the rose tinted glasses but it is more motivating for sure to be 'FOR' something then against things.
