Another type of person to work with that stinks is the micro-manager. I know that even I struggle with issues of control at various points, but this is the type of person that seemingly has so much time on their hands that they can spend all their time checking into what you are doing.
I think that a lot of this comes from several issues: The micro-manager
is insecure. I am not sure if they were not hugged enough as a young child or what, but they are insecure in their own abilities and therefore need to 'manage' everything that they can.
The other thing that can play into this is that the micro-manager doesn't trust you. At that point you are hosed. Start checking the classifieds because you are not going to go anywhere - at least if this micro-manager is in any position of authority with your current company.
The one thing about a micro-manager is that if you know that going in at least you can prepare for them. That doesn't make it any easier really to work with them, but at least you know what is coming.
If you are a person who feels that need to know every grainular level item about everything, get a life, go outside, breath in some smog, and let others do what they are being paid to do.
